Application: My Story School eBook Maker Knowledge: My Story is a creative application that promotes teaching through storytelling and book making. This application allows for children to be the authors and illustrators of their own book. Students have many options when creating their illustrations. They can use the in app backgrounds or stickers, upload photos, or even illustrate their own drawings. Students also have options when it comes to the text of the book, as they can type it, write it, or even record their own voice. Upon completion of their book they can share their story on the web, export it as a movie, or as a PDF. The teacher friendly interface allows for many authors to create in one location. The interface is user friendly to young children due to the easy to use design of the application, with very little reading skills necessary, and the ability to voice record, in addition to or in place of writing or typing. Application: Bloomz Knowledge: The Bloomz app is a platform for teachers to connect, coordinate, and communicate with parents. Teachers can send parents daily updates as well share photos and videos with them. The app allows for teachers to communicate to an entire group of parents or to specify individual parents. The app is also a platform for teachers to share a calendar of events and to post signups for parent/teacher conferences or volunteer opportunities. Bloomz has a two-way messaging system within the app for real time messaging, as well as behavioral and routine reports. This app allows parents to visit one app for information about their students classroom as opposed to searching through emails, and clicking on links, or checking Facebook. Application: Touchable Earth https://www.touchableearth.org/ Knowledge: Touchable Earth provides students and teachers a platform to watch vignettes of children around the world. The videos give students a sneak peek into how children around the world live their everyday life. The videos touch upon family life, school, play, cultural information, friends and facts. Under each country you can view videos on the countries geographic location, their capital, their flag, and their national anthem. This is not an interactive app in which kids can demonstrate their work, but rather a resource for students and teachers to use as a presentation of information coming straight from other young students around the world.
